Our stunning Antique Silver Thai Ceremonial Bowl with a Custom Made Top by Thai National Artist Mr. Boonchuay Hirunyawit from the Northern Thailand city of Nan.

Great story here. We picked this masterpiece up about a decade ago in our home town from the house of the National Artist Mr. Boonchuay Hirunyawit. We only went to browse his artwork as we heard there was a great artist living in our city. While we were looking around his studio we saw this unusual & unique piece definitely a one of a kind in his gallery shop. So we asked about it and why is was so different from all the rest.

Mr. Boonchuay Hirunyawit told us it was actually not his works and the only thing in the shop not done by him. But that several decades earlier a family member of the King of Nan Province came to him during some hard times and sold it for the weight cost of silver back then. It was a masterpiece one that even he could not recreate if he tried. In fact he claimed to us that the skill of this bowl could not be repeated in our time ever again. And that it was well over 100 years old.

So we wondered why he had not sold it and he said because no one else really had noticed it like we had and as well it was fairly expensive compared to everything else in his shop. And plus that it was considered a lot of money to spend for someone living in a small country village like ours too. Well we scooped it up instantly on the spot knowing we had found a museum quality piece of art & history by pure chance.

Our beautiful Antique Silver bowl is finely decorated with the lovely Thai Traditional Dancers going around it. And again there's a special extra bonus cover on top that was made by Mr. Boonchuay Hirunyawit personally to honor this magnificent bowl. As normally these types of ceremonial bowls have no tops or covers on them. This is artist Mr. Boonchuay Hirunyawit way of complimenting & paying his respects to this ancient masterpiece. So this is even more of a special and one of a kind item to be found anywhere of it's type.

Also you can see photos of the studio space & tools passed down from many generations of artists in his family (his Great Grandfather & Father also used these same exact tools). These kinds of ancient tools & studio set up do not exist anymore anywhere in Thailand.
